Daffodils
I wandered lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o'er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host, of golden daffodils;
Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.
Continuous as the stars that shine
And twinkle on the milky way,
They stretched in never-ending line
Along the margin of a bay:
Ten thousand saw I at a glance,
Tossing their heads in sprightly dance.
The waves beside them danced, but they
Out-did the sparkling leaves in glee;
A poet could not be but gay,
In such a jocund company!
I gazed—and gazed—but little thought
What wealth the show to me had brought:
For oft, when on my couch I lie
In vacant or in pensive mood,
They flash upon that inward eye
Which is the bliss of solitude;
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils.
That floats on high o'er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host, of golden daffodils;
Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.
Continuous as the stars that shine
And twinkle on the milky way,
They stretched in never-ending line
Along the margin of a bay:
Ten thousand saw I at a glance,
Tossing their heads in sprightly dance.
The waves beside them danced, but they
Out-did the sparkling leaves in glee;
A poet could not be but gay,
In such a jocund company!
I gazed—and gazed—but little thought
What wealth the show to me had brought:
For oft, when on my couch I lie
In vacant or in pensive mood,
They flash upon that inward eye
Which is the bliss of solitude;
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils.

I'm moving away from the accidental road theme and apparently moving on to the "poems you learn in freshman english" theme
the main reason I posted this poem is because it sounds cool, there isn't a deep meaning in my posting of this, I think, It just sounds cool
for those of you who were wondering, this poem was written by william wordsworth. or maybe i'm the only one who has been out of freshman english long enough to forget that fact.
i also thought that it was interesting that when i looked up the word jocund at merriamwebster.com, they used the line from this poem as the sample sentence.
vc
i hate this poem. it has no meaning. it sounds wierd too.
i don't get the point of this poem. i think it was the hardest one to memorize in freshman english summer school because it was so boring. no offence jigger.
apparently no one liked freshman english, I woder why? I for one found this easier to memorize than those stupid loe and death sonnets, I memoried daffodils on my way home from school that day and recited it to Tim the sonnets took at least 15 minutes, of course that is while checking my email and such
maybe, but the death sonnet does talk about opium
i have stood on a mountain an enjoyed God's creation, but this poem doesn't move me like that. a good song maybe, but not this poem. anyways, i liked the love sonnet. it was beautiful.
jigger- freshman english was fun!! (especially the puzzles)
we could have finished that lion one that day, but she made us put them up, and I didn't say I didn't enjoy freshman english, especially coriographing a sword fight with caleb
you could not have finished that lion one. i know this because it took my mom and sis(who are both obsessed w/ puzzles) a week of doing it for a 3-4 hours a day.
but do your mom and sister have the eagle eyes of Caleb Burr Stevo and ben? don't answer that. but we already have pretty much the top half done and the rest organized
Runnergrl and me are trend setters!
yeah puzzle club
