The Raven

Since The Raven is quite a lengthy poem, I have instead decided to post a link to it, so
check it out

As some of you might know I am in Intro to Speech. Recently we underwent poetry projects, where you select a topic of poetry and link several poems together using short transitions between them. Our group chose Edgar Allen Poe's poetry for our topic. We used The Raven in our presentation along with two others. After reading through The Raven, I noticed just how cool sounding it is. If you take the time to look into the poem and catch all that it says, and look past Poe and the semi-disturbed guy that he was, and you'll see a cool sounding poem with cool words in it
Nepenthe:1. A drug mentioned in the Odyssey as a remedy for grief.
2. Something that induces forgetfulness of sorrow or eases pain.

i think Poe was the man. "semi-disturbed" is semi-an-understatement, but the guy wrote some cool stuff. there are so many cool things that i like about this poem, but here are a few:

Consonance
Then methought the air grew denser, perfumed from an unseen censer
Swung by Seraphim whose footfalls tinkled on the tufted floor.

how many other poems do you know that are written in trochaic octameter?

i wish i could write more, but that is all i have time for right now.
